This work is full of details related to my childhood back home in Venezuela. The palm tree represents myself coming from a tropical country but also the fact that we have palm trees at our home. We did not have much money, so we could never afford to buy lamps. Because of this, the light bulbs were always hanging from the electric cables just as it is represented in the painting. My father used to collect birds, and they would always be in cages. I used to dislike this very much, so I painted a bird against the deep blue sky in freedom. The blue line represents the colour of my room. The colour orange suggests the heat of a tropical country. In the bottom of the work, there is a line that simulates a heart beat but it is underground almost like the roots of a tree to express where I'm coming from, where my roots are from, and where my heart will always be.
